Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. Developed by Las Vegas Sands, it is billed as the world's most expensive standalone casino property at S$8 billion, including cost of the prime land.
With the casino complete, the resort features a 2,560-room hotel, a 120,000 sq.m. convention-exhibition centre, The Shoppes mall, an Art & Science museum, two Sands Theatres, six "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating pavilions, a casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines. The complex is topped by a 340m-long SkyPark with a capacity of 3,900 people and a 150m infinity swimming pool, set on top of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by 67m. The 20-hectare resort was designed by Moshe Safdie Architects. The local architect of record was Aedas Singapore, and engineering was provided by Arup and Parsons Brinkerhoff (MEP). Source Wikipedia
The complex was opened in April 2010 ?
The Marina Bay Sands is Singapore's new casino. It's unique SKYPARK, as long as a WWII aircraft carrier, floats atop the three soaring Marina Bay Sands hotel towers over 200 meters in the sky. Stretching longer than the Eiffel tower laid down or four and a half A380 Jumbo Jets, with an impressive 12,400 square meters of space, the Sands SkyPark can host up to 3900 people. The gravity-defying cantilever is one of the largest of its kind in the world.---
If you say: Hey Ben this isn’t real… You’re kidding… I would totally understand it but as you see it… There is a boat on top of the three Skyscrapers and it is REAL…
You can’t believe how shocked I was when I first approached the Marina Bay Casino from the Autobahn scratching my eyes and asking the taxi driver if this is a ship… :) It even has position lights at the end and the front!!! On top of the ship there is a pool and an observation deck.
On the left side they built a Lotus Flower. Everything there is brand new and under construction.
The surface of the right building is made of foil and is flexible. They did this because it looks like water when the sunbeams are reflected.
In the building right in the middle of the boat there is a huuuuuggge shopping mall where I also took this shot: www.flickr.com/photos/sprengben/4923204832/
They built a channel at the bottom of the shopping mall where you can rent a boat ride like in Venice. CRAZY!! ! :-) Just image. You go to Singapore, enter a huge shopping mall and then they ask you to go on an Italien boat ride. I laughed out loud.
You see there is so much to tell about this. I have to stop otherwise I will bother you. If you ever have the chance to go on your own do it. Singapore is a great city.
